Archiving and Preservation
Published content is held on the infrastructure of Qazaq AI Research University with off-site backups; third-party preservation with the Internet Archive and the PKP Preservation Network is planned and conditional on DOAJ acceptance.
This page states plainly where the published content of QAIRU Journal is kept today, and what the journal intends to add later. Planned arrangements are labelled as planned.
What is preserved
The following are preserved for every published article:
- the full text in PDF form and in web form, both being the version of record;
- figures, tables and supplementary files deposited with the article;
- article metadata, including authors, affiliations, abstract, keywords, funding information, references and the DOI;
- post-publication notices attached to the article, such as corrections, expressions of concern and retractions.
Where the content is held now
Article files and metadata are held on the infrastructure of Qazaq AI Research University. Backups are taken daily and copied off site, to storage held separately from the production systems, so that the loss of the production environment does not entail the loss of the archive. Restores are tested periodically against the backup copies; a backup that has not been restored is not treated as a backup.
Access and persistent identifiers
Content is served from the journal website. Each article has a stable URL and a DOI assigned via Crossref upon publication. The DOI is the citable link: it is registered with the article's current location, and if the website address changes, the registration is updated so that the DOI continues to resolve to the article. Readers and citing authors should link by DOI rather than by website address.
Planned
The statements in this section describe intentions, not current arrangements. The journal does not at present participate in any third-party preservation service.
- The journal intends to deposit its published content with the Internet Archive.
- The journal intends to join the PKP Preservation Network. Participation follows acceptance into DOAJ, which is a precondition set by that network.
- The journal will apply for inclusion in DOAJ once it meets the eligibility requirements.
This page will be updated when any of these arrangements is in place, and the change will be recorded in the version history.
Self-archiving as an additional layer
Author self-archiving adds resilience that does not depend on the publisher. Authors may deposit the submitted, accepted and published versions in any repository, institutional or subject-based, and on personal pages, at any time and with no embargo. The journal encourages deposit in an institutional or subject repository for every published article. Terms are on /open-access-policy.
If the journal ceases to publish
If QAIRU Journal ceases publication, Qazaq AI Research University will keep the published content available at its existing addresses. The publisher will also seek to transfer the archive to a third-party preservation service or to an institutional repository, and will maintain the DOI registrations, or transfer them together with the content, so that existing DOIs continue to resolve. Any such transfer will be announced on this page before it takes effect.
The published record is not altered
Published articles are not edited, replaced or removed. A change to the scholarly record after publication is handled as a separate, citable notice linked to the original article, which itself stays online. This applies to corrections, expressions of concern and retractions alike; a retracted article remains available, marked as retracted. The procedure is on /corrections-and-retractions.
The only exceptions are items the publisher is legally obliged to remove, or content that presents a serious risk to a person. In such a case a notice remains in place of the removed item, stating that removal occurred and why, so that the record of the article's existence survives.
Editorial records
Editorial records — submitted manuscripts, correspondence, reviewer reports, decision letters and similarity reports — are retained for at least ten years after the editorial decision, including for manuscripts that were rejected or withdrawn. They are held confidentially and are used only for editorial purposes, including the investigation of post-publication concerns. Handling of personal data in these records is described on /privacy-statement.
If an article is unavailable
If a published article, a supplementary file or a DOI link does not resolve, write to journal@qairu.edu.kz with the article title and DOI. The editorial office will restore access from the archive and confirm when the item is available again.
