Authors of QAIRU Journal retain copyright, articles are published under CC BY 4.0, and the journal holds only a non-exclusive licence to publish, deposit and preserve them.
This page states who owns a published article, what licence it carries, and what an author must settle before submission.
Authors retain copyright in their articles and retain all publishing rights without restriction. Publication in QAIRU Journal transfers no ownership to the publisher. Authors may reuse their own article in teaching, in a thesis, in a book, in a later paper or in any other work, without asking permission and without paying anything.
On acceptance, the authors grant the journal a non-exclusive, irrevocable licence to:
The licence is non-exclusive, so the same rights the authors give the journal remain available to them and to anyone else under CC BY 4.0.
Every article is published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Licence (CC BY 4.0): https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/
In plain terms, anyone may copy, redistribute, translate, adapt and build upon the article, in any medium or format, for any purpose, including commercial purposes, provided that they:
The licence does not allow a reuser to imply endorsement by the authors or the journal, and it does not permit the addition of legal or technical restrictions that prevent others from doing anything the licence allows.
Each published article carries this statement:
© [year] The Authors. Published by Qazaq AI Research University. This is an open access article distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Licence (CC BY 4.0), https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/, which permits unrestricted use, distribution and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited.
A copy-ready attribution for reusers:
[Author surname, initials], [Author surname, initials]. [Article title]. QAIRU Journal, [year], [volume]([issue]), [pages]. DOI: [DOI]. Licensed under CC BY 4.0, https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/. [Changes were made / No changes were made.]
CC BY 4.0 is irrevocable. Once an article is published, the authors cannot cancel the licence or narrow it later, and copies already distributed under it remain lawful. Authors should therefore be certain, before submission, that they hold the rights to everything in the manuscript and that they are willing to publish it on these terms. Withdrawal of an article after publication is not a licensing action; it is handled as a retraction notice — see /corrections-and-retractions.
Anything in the manuscript that the authors do not own — figures, tables, datasets, code, photographs, screenshots, maps and long quotations — is the authors' responsibility to clear. Before submission, the corresponding author must:
If CC BY 4.0 permission cannot be obtained for an item, the item must be removed or replaced with material the authors own or that is openly licensed. The journal does not publish articles containing all-rights-reserved material.
Material in the public domain, or already under a compatible open licence (CC BY, CC BY-SA where the item remains separable, or CC0), may be reused. Credit it in the caption with the source, the creator and the licence, for example: "Figure adapted from [source], [creator], CC BY 4.0."
The licence terms above apply to the ARTICLES. They do not apply to the journal website itself. The site design, layout, logos, and the names QAIRU Journal and Qazaq AI Research University are the property of the publisher and are not licensed under CC BY 4.0.
Editorial content on the site — these policy pages, author guidance and announcements — may be reused with attribution to QAIRU Journal, provided the reuse does not present the text as the policy of another journal or imply endorsement by the publisher.
Authors are encouraged to publish the code and data underlying an article, and to license them explicitly:
| Material | Recommended licence |
|---|---|
| Software and analysis code | A recognised open-source licence, such as MIT, BSD-3-Clause or Apache-2.0 |
| Datasets | CC BY 4.0 or CC0 1.0 |
State the licence and the repository location in the data availability statement — see /data-availability. Code and data deposited elsewhere keep the licence given in that repository; CC BY 4.0 applies to the article text, figures and tables, not to files held outside it.
The licence does not affect the authors' moral rights, including the right to be identified as the authors of the work. It does not transfer, waive or license any patent or trademark rights, and it does not limit fair dealing, fair use or other exceptions in national copyright law.
Most reuse needs no permission: CC BY 4.0 already allows it, and no request to the journal is required. Write to journal@qairu.edu.kz only for uses the licence does not cover, such as use of the journal's name or logo, or reuse of a third-party item that the article itself identifies as separately licensed. Requests concerning such an item are directed to its rights holder, not to the journal.
